"FRAGMENTS OF THE AQUATIC", through November 6th, 2011

New Exhibition Opening
Sunday, September 25th, 2-4pm, Silvermine Galleries, New Canaan, Connecticut

‘Fragments of the Aquatic’ continues my interest in exploring the rhythms of the natural world that remain unnoticed, offering the untamed and the meditative. My journeys are retraced and reflected through a myriad of media. Macro views of differing modalities of water, taken from my daily wanderings, are frozen in time, highlighting movement, color, form, reflections, shadows and sound.

The potential for perceptual deception exists inherently in water. The use of multiple media further showcases the duality of water as muse and media. Layers of images in water based and oil glazes, photographic imagery and film all reflect the artistic process, while simultaneously supporting my aesthetic vision. The works of art in this exhibition offer the viewer an opportunity to play with their own perception of reality.

My work has deep-rooted connections in ecology, psychology and sociology. In its many forms, water plays a vital role for us all. Water offers us properties of sustenance, potential for destruction, meditative moments, athletic opportunities and aesthetic visuals. By focusing on fragments available to me in a singular moment, I invite the audience to share in a multi-sensorial exhibition. I hope they will engage, reflect and contemplate how water plays critical and numerous roles in their lives.
